Épopée Gestion announced today that it has adopted the status of mission-driven company, and has included this commitment in its articles of association. This initiative which began in early 2023, is the natural extension of the ambition set by its founders when the company was established in 2020. The aim is to create economic, environmental and social value at the heart of local communities, thereby generating a positive impact for all our stakeholders. A mission committee has already been set up, made up of qualified external figures and a company employee. It will ensure that the mission is carried out in line with the social and environmental objectives defined in the company’s raison d’être.
The mission-driven company status has been defined as part of the PACTE law (Plan d’Action pour la Croissance et la Transformation des Entreprises) enacted in May 2019. The law aims to encourage companies to integrate environmental and social issues into their economic strategy.
Épopée Gestion is a native impact company, driven by the conviction of its founders that regions and the local dimension are now, more than ever, a response to the economic, societal and environmental challenges facing France. By becoming a mission-driven company, Épopée Gestion intends to set itself a long-term course with a determination to progress and align its business model with its raison d’être.
To define its raison d’être, Épopée Gestion has opted for a singular approach, thinking in terms of stakeholders rather than business lines. Indeed, the company considers that it carries out its business as a financier at the service of each of its four stakeholders: investors, entrepreneurs, employees and local communities.
As part of this process, Épopée Gestion mobilized all its employees, surveyed its external stakeholders and carried out a strategic review of its developments.
« “Reinvesting in regions means accelerating their transformations and those of their stakeholders in a sustainable way, living and working where we want to, and reinventing the economic, ecological and social pact.” ».
This raison d’être is broken down into seven statutory objectives:
- Convincing our investors to commit to responsible, local finance.
- Offer comprehensive, varied financing solutions tailored to the development of local players.
- Accompany entrepreneurs with a partnership approach: financial, operational and human, on a daily basis and over time, to accelerate their transformation towards sustainable models and the local economy.
- Imagining, financing and supporting the development of sustainable, environmentally and socially resilient infrastructure and real estate, to support the development of businesses, jobs and a better quality of life in local areas.
- Identify and support daring entrepreneurs offering innovative solutions for their regions, their environments and/or the quality of life of their inhabitants.
- Live an ambitious, enthusiastic and sustainable entrepreneurial adventure with our teams, experimenting with responsible practices.
The Mission Committee will oversee the implementation of these seven objectives and ensure that the strategy deployed by Épopée Gestion is aligned with its commitments as a mission-driven company. It is made up of nine external personalities, the two co-founders and an Épopée Gestion employee
Composition: Marie Baudron, partner at Egon Zehnder; Jean-Marc Coly, President of ASPIM; Marion Dewagenaere, CEO Allianz Banque and Allianz Patrimoine; Pauline Duval, Managing Director of Duval Group; Jean-Pierre Grimaud, CEO OFI Invest; Denis Laplane, former senior executive at BNP Paribas; Corinne Lepage, environmental lawyer and former French Minister of the Environment; Jean Moueix, entrepreneur and Chairman of Groupe Videlot; a member representing Tikehau Capital; Zoé Ormières-Selves, ESG Director, Épopée Gestion.
Ronan Le Moal and Charles Cabillic, co-founders of Épopée Gestion, declare: “The financial sector must transform itself in order to be able to deal with ecological and societal transitions. Of course, this does not mean giving up on economic performance. Quite simply, performance means, and will increasingly mean, proactively integrating ecological and societal issues. As a financial player, we are fully vested with this responsibility, and we want to deploy our investment capacities for the benefit of all our stakeholders, with a long-term objective in mind. That is, to create sustainable value for all, and to reinvent the economic, ecological and social pact at the service of local communities. This is the meaning we wish to give to our activities, and the purpose of the commitments we are making by becoming a mission-driven company”.
Zoé Ormières-Selves, Partner Director in charge of ESG at Épopée Gestion, adds: “Adopting the status of mission-driven company enables us to set a Course, to ensure the sustainability of our business, with an impact that is as much economic as it is social and environmental. Becoming a mission-driven company commits us to questioning our strategic decisions: an approach that involves our employees and stakeholders.”
