Greenspot raises €30 million from Épopée Gestion and OCCTE to become a national player in public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in France.

Electric vehicle charging station operator Greenspot announces that it has raised €30 million from Épopée Gestion in co-investment with OCCTE. This is the first investment by Épopée Gestion through its Épopée Infra Climat I fund, and the fourth investment by OCCTE’s OCCIGEN infrastructure fund. The partnership will finance the deployment and operation of public charging stations operated by Greenspot in medium-sized conurbations in France, mainly in urban and suburban commercial areas

Greenspot is a Bordeaux-based company founded in 2016 by Olivier Pelisse, Jean-François Belhomme and Pierre Siu. Historically positioned in the sale and rental of charging stations for electric vehicles combined with an operating contract, the company has already deployed nearly 1,000 installations across France. This round of financing will enable Greenspot to build on its historical expertise and accelerate its strategy by developing its own network of charging stations.

Everywhere in France, Greenspot will be able to expand its electric vehicle recharging offer in partnership with third-party sites offering vehicle-accessible areas (shopping center parking lots, public spaces, etc.), particularly on the outskirts of medium-sized towns. While legislation already encourages establishments open to the public to provide electric recharging stations, Greenspot’s turnkey solution will enable these companies to enhance the value of their land and accelerate access to charging stations for suburban users.

This fund-raising is also the coming together of three players committed to the sustainable transition of regions and sharing the same values. With an ambition to deploy nearly 8,500 charging points by 2030, Greenspot will avoid 220,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, for the equivalent of 1,200 million km driven electrically. To support this expansion, Greenspot plans to recruit over 70 people between now and 2030.

Pierre Siu, Chairman and Partner of Greenspot, comments: “Greenspot’s know-how has been developed around its business expertise as a recharging infrastructure operator, and a keen understanding of the new uses of mobility that are taking shape. The support we have received from the Epopée Infra Climat I and OCCIGEN funds reflects the recognition of this expertise, and we would like to thank them for the confidence they have shown in our team. As regional players, this investment makes the deployment of recharging infrastructures in the regions coherent, with the aim of bringing a solution to all our citizens for a more voluntary adoption of sustainable mobility.

According to Emmanuel Walliser, Investment Director, Infrastructures & Climat: “Épopée Gestion has been working for several months on structuring this transaction, which will provide Greenspot with the financial resources to accelerate its national development and offer its customers a low-carbon mobility solution tailored to their needs and those of the regions. This operation is the first investment of the Épopée Infra Climat I fund, launched in July 2023, and aims to contribute to the decarbonization of regions and infrastructures, in particular by supporting ambitious energy projects. Greenspot can draw on its operational excellence, agility and a strong commitment throughout the company to sustainable growth and the decarbonization of transport.”

According to Julien Gomis and Emmanuelle Ostiari, Investment Directors at OCCTE: “This fourth investment by the OCCIGEN fund, dedicated to regional energy transition, is designed to meet the challenges of electrification of the car fleet in France. Greenspot has succeeded in identifying new areas to equip, densifying the network in zones outside the major metropolises, while creating and maintaining local skills. Its ambitions are perfectly aligned with the investment criteria of our fund (article 9 SFDR 100% taxonomy-aligned, and Greenfin-labeled) dedicated to the energy transition.”
