The GUYOT énergies group and Épopée Gestion join forces to accelerate the development of local low-carbon energy sources

GUYOT énergies, a subsidiary of the GUYOT group dedicated to energy transition, and Épopée Gestion, a regional investment fund, have decided to join forces to enable new low-carbon energy production projects to see the light of day. This is taking the form of a strategic partnership with Épopée Gestion acquiring a stake in GUYOT énergies, in which the GUYOT group remains the majority shareholder.

A committed partnership for the energy transition of all regions

The operation will provide GUYOT énergies with €30 million to accelerate the deployment of its industrial energy transition projects. With two heating plants already under construction in Créhen (Côtes d’Armor) and Brest, the aim is to double the number of biomass and waste-to-energy production facilities by 2030, primarily in France and Spain.

The transition poses numerous challenges for the industry. The sector accounts for 17% of France’s greenhouse gas emissions (source: SDES – statistical service of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, according to Citepa, Secten 2024 format) and the country has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, which will require the decarbonisation of the sector

Adding value to what was previously worthless… Focus on the GUYOT group’s low-carbon fuels in Brittany

GUYOT énergies’ heating plants in Brittany are supplied with fuel by GUYOT environnement, the leading independent waste management company in Brittany. Whether biomass (end-of-life wood) or solid recovered fuel (SRF), both types of fuel are derived from locally collected non-recyclable waste that would otherwise have been sent to landfill.

Innovating locally for ecological transition, an ambition shared by partners

For Épopée Gestion, which operates through its Infrastructure and Climate vertical funds, this project embodies all aspects of its DNA and raison d’être: supporting innovative and virtuous initiatives, rooted in regions throughout France, to build low-carbon infrastructure and accelerate the transition to a circular and resilient economy.

This participation will also enable GUYOT énergies to strengthen and expand its existing expertise, particularly in the field of biogenic CO₂ capture. Once captured, this CO₂ becomes a raw material with multiple uses, particularly to meet the future needs of the renewable fuel sector. This activity is fully in line with the circular economy approach promoted by the partners.

Ronan Le Moal, co-founder and managing director of Épopée Gestion: “We are proud to support Erwan Guyot and his group, an iconic family business in the region that has successfully combined agility and vision to grow from the tip of Brittany. The project, which is exemplary in more ways than one, combines ecological innovation with local roots and responds to the challenges of energy transition while creating value locally. At Épopée Gestion, we invest not only in companies, but in entrepreneurial stories that turn challenges into opportunities. This project, which is both virtuous and ambitious, perfectly illustrates our thesis: supporting local champions so that they become the leaders of tomorrow, while contributing to a more sustainable industry.”

Erwan Guyot, CEO of the GUYOT Group: “By welcoming Épopée Gestion into GUYOT énergies’ capital, we are choosing shared and sustainable development. This move will enable us to accelerate the industrial and energy projects led by our teams throughout France and Spain, while preserving the identity, culture and values that have been the strength of our family business since its creation. Our ambition remains unchanged: to actively contribute to the energy transition, strengthen our presence in the regions and continue our commitment to a circular, responsible economy that creates local jobs. “
